Gareth Richards

RUNNER UP OF AMUSED MOOSE LAUGH OFF 2007

3RD PLACE IN HACKNEY EMPIRE NEW ACT OF THE YEAR 2007

FINALIST IN LEICESTER MERCURY COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR 2008

Gareth Richards did his first stand-up comedy gig aboard "The Wibbly-Wobbly Boat" a notoriously rowdy venue in South London in 2004. Since then he has performed all over the UK pedalling his own unique brand of edgily surreal jokes and one-liners, and stories based on true events.

In 2008 he was nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Award, and later won a place as part of the Comedy Reserve, the Edinburgh Festival showcase run by the Pleasance. Previously he was a finalist in the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2007 competition, and a runner-up in both the final of You Must Be Joking (Newbury Comedy Festival), and the Amused Moose Laugh-Off, held at the Edinburgh festival.

Gareth is developing a reputation for himself as a sharp writer and rock solid performer. His outsider viewpoint and appealing persona are already making him a favourite with audiences all over the UK. His engaging observational comedy and inspired one-liners have made him in an instant favourite on the comedy circuit and can be heard every Saturday morning from 8am on Frank Skinner’s Absolute Radio Show.

“Gareth Richards comes across as an effortlessly assured act…exceptionally inspired and truly memorable.”

“You are thrilled to be made part of this fantastic comedy...They can call me a witch again any time for theirs is the best show I have seen on the Free Fringe.” Three Weeks

“The first act to raise some belly laughs was Gareth Richards, whose quick-fire gags really picked up the pace. The set was delivered with the kind of charisma that could pull off everything from the dodgiest pun to jokes about ethnic cleansing. A definite face for the future.” newburytoday.co.uk
